Allegro MicroSystems Releases New Linear Current Regulator and Controllers for Automotive LED Lights

Allegro MicroSystems announces two new adjustable linear current regulators for driving automotive LED arrays. Allegro’s AEC-Q100 qualifiedA6274 and A6284 devices include many new features designed to further enhance the existing family of Linear LED drivers. These new low-EMI ICs integrate an optional pre-regulator gate drive to dynamically and linearly control an external P-channel MOSFET, which extends the output power capability of a linear LED driver by moving most of the power losses to an external power FET.

Allegro MicroSystems Releases New Programmable Multi-output LED Automotive Driver

On July 16, Allegro MicroSystems, LLC, a leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing high-performance semiconductors, announced a new programmable multi-output LED driver for LCD backlighting, instrument clusters, and daytime running lights. Allegro's A8517 integrates a current-mode boost converter with internal power switch and 10 I²C programmable current sinks, and can provide 5,000:1 contrast ratio PWM dimming at 200 Hz. The IC operates from 4.5 to 36 V, and is able to withstand up to 40 V load-dump conditions encountered in automotive systems. ...
