Sony has showcased a resolution of 500ppi for OLED panels in a symposium at SID 2012, as high as those of the latest LCD panels. The company applied OLED materials with a pixel pitch of 51μm (dot pitch: 17μm), which is equivalent to 500ppi, by using an offset printing method (thesis number: 68.4L). TDK Corp recently has released the structure of the see-through OLED panel which started mass production in March 2011. The see-through OLED panel features a passive-matrix type and has a screen size of 2.4 inches. Its pixel count is 240 x 320 (QVGA). It can display color images.
