According to TrendForce’s research division LEDinside, the price downtrend of warm white LED light bulbs for 40W and 60W replacement (40W bulb and 60W bulb) persisted in August 2011. The ASP of LED bulb for 40W bulb took the most severe dip, plunging to US$ 23.5 with a 4% decline compared to July this year; the ASP of LED bulb for 60W bulb dropped to US$ 43.8, a 1% decrease compared to July this year. The European and American markets underwent the most drastic downturns.

According to a survey conducted by LEDinside, a research institute focusing on the LED industry, LED lighting products have been receiving increasing interest in the market. For example, before May, 2011, few LED light bulbs were available on the Chinese online shopping website Taobao;however, the amount began surging since June and has increased to several thousands by July.

Luminous flux improvement accelerates the popularization of the LED lighting market. Targeting at the LED light bulbs (450-485lm) to replace the 40W incandescent light bulbs, LEDinside conducted a comprehensive price survey. The survey showed that the price of LED light bulbs has plummeted by 55% from March, 2010 to June, 2011; the average retail price dropped to USD24 (USD52/Klm). The continuous downtrend of LED light bulb prices is expected to increase the demand for LED applications.
