SemiLEDs Makes Breakthrough on Nitride UV LED Chips

Lately, SemiLEDs has made a breakthrough on its latest ultraviolet LED chips which are capable of emitting radiation at a wavelength of 390-420 nm with 40% external quantum efficiencies (EQEs). The EQE is an LED’s ability to convert electrons into photons. The devices have been tested at 350 mA  and up to an output power of 500 mW and a typical 3.3V forward voltage.
