LG announced subsidiary LG Display will be taking over LG Chem’s OLED lighting business on Monday, as part of its OLED realignment strategy reported The Korea Times and Yonhap News.

LG Chem has launched a new flexible OLED light panel in the size of 406x50mm, which is about twice the size of current 200x50mm OLED light panel. LG Chem had previously introduced the plastic-based 200x50mm flexible panel followed by the sample price offer announcement in January 2015. “Based on the customer feedbacks, that flexibility in design rises with the increase in length of the flexible OLED light panel, we decided to introduce the longer version,” said Park Sung-Soo, Vice President of the OLED light business at LG Chem.

LG Chem has announced its participation in Euroluce 2015 from April 14th to April 19th. LG Chem will exhibit an updated OLED light panel line-up along with various types of applications and solutions. LG Chem will also showcase its partners’ products using LG Chem OLED light panels, including Acuity Brands, TW2M and more.

LG Chem announced today that it achieved two important milestones in the development of OLED lighting products with the start of manufacturing of the 320 x 320 mm OLED light panel, the world’s largest available in the market, and the completion of the research and development phase for a new plastic-based OLED light panel.

 LG Chem OLED Light panels have been used as the main light source at Tincan, a newly opened pop-up restaurant designed by AL_A. The restaurant which was introduced in time for this year’s London Design Festival, serves an exquisite collection of tinned seafood along with carefully selected beer and wine. The decision to use LG Chem OLEDs for the restaurant’s lighting was based on the excellent light quality as well as the design possibilities unique to OLEDs. Moreover, the simplicity of OLEDs enabled the architectural design firm, AL_A, to design and manufacture the lightings themselves.

LG Chem has developed the world’s first OLED light panel with high luminous efficacy and long-lasting performance that can compete with LED lights, according to a report from The Korea Herald.

LG Chem and Ab Rogers Design have collaborated on a project to apply OLED light to an architectural installation, the OLED Tree Bar. The design was installed at May Design Series furnishing fair which was held May 18–20 this year. Along with LG Chem, Ab Rogers has been seeking to create applications only possible with OLEDs. The result of the endeavor was blooming petals of thin OLED light panels that illuminated the bar area built for the exhibition. LG Chem`s circular type OLED light panels (N6OA30) were used for the project. 

ALKILU Enterprises today announced that its line of affordable OLED products is now available for pre-order on the company's website. The announcement coincides with the 25th Annual Lightfair International in Las Vegas, Nevada – the site of ALKILU's debut in January 2014 as part of the Consumer Electronics Show.

LG Chem announces to strategically drop the price of OLED light panels from third quarter of 2014. The market price was set at $600/Klm or above, depending on order quantities. Today, LG Chem suggests a new price of $200/Klm. 

Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets has just published its latest forecasts of the OLED lighting market predicting a $1.4 billion market opportunity in 2019. The report, " OLED Lighting Markets-2014 "  notes that while the sector has foundered for the past few years it now appears to be worthy of some renewed optimism based on both on both improvements in OLED lighting panel performance and recent expansion of manufacturing facilities.

Recently, LG Chem has completed the development of their first OLED lighting panel, and has planned to start mass production. The new panel called the "type 1" panel, or the LG-OLED-041 is a 100x100 mm square panel that features 4,000K, CRI>80, 45 lm/W and 10,000 hours lifetime (LT70) at 3,000 nits.
