The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and OLEDWorks LLC announced today that OLEDWorks is developing a new lighting prototype with support from NYSERDA that would save energy and not disrupt sleep patterns for patients in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. NEC Lighting Ltd has developed a white OLED device whose luminous efficiency is 156lm/W in its booth at Lighting Fair 2013 from March 3 to 8, 2013, in Tokyo. The device was developed in collaboration with a research group led by Junji Kido, professor at Yamagata University. Back in May 2011 Philips announced that they are investing €40 million in a new OLED lighting production line in Aachen. Philips inaugurated the new line - which has been producing OLEDs since Q3 2012 in fact (but it's only official now). Available in series, the new lighting module from the OLEDmodule LUREON REP product range for the first time achieves a luminous flux of more than 100 lumens, at dimensions of 99 x 99 mm².
