The Lighting Industry Association’s (LIA) new state of the art, 12,500 sq ft purpose built Laboratories have bid successfully and are undertaking testing as part of LightingEurope’s Compliant Lighting Initiative.

The building works for these two exciting project have commenced and are due to be completed in early 2016. Already the UK’s largest independent lighting test laboratory, the LIA Laboratories’ new facility will house ‘state-of-the-art’ testing equipment that ordinarily would be out of reach of many of the Lighting SME’s, creating a UK wide national lighting-testing asset.

The UK’s Lighting Industry received a huge boost this week as the Lighting Industry Association received a share of GBP 1.3 million (US $2 million) from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund to further develop its laboratory services (LIA Laboratories) and new Lighting Training Academy.

The LIA has been working closely with the Green Construction Board and British Retail Consortium to develop a campaign aimed at encouraging independent and small to medium sized retailers to switch to LED lighting installations.

Some members of the Lighting Industry Association (LIA) rencently complaints that a number of LED retrofit lamps not delivering on some manufacturers’ claims, which has led to the trade body calling on the National Measurement Office (NMO) to test lamps. The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) have developed Mini Guide to show how Lighting Controls can play a key role in helping to deliver the energy efficiency requirements for lighting required by the Building Regulations.
