LEDinside, a division of TrendForce, reports that the global average sales prices (ASP) of LED light bulbs was generally stable in November. The global ASP of 40-watt equivalent products was US$6.2, a slight increase of 0.5%. The global ASP of 60-watt equivalent products also increased slightly by 0.2% to US$7.4. Japan saw noticeable price slide while Europe experienced price growth.

Prices of LED lightbulbs remained on the downtrend in September, reports LEDinside, a division of TrendForce. Compared with the prior month, the global average sales price (ASP) of 40-watt equivalent LED light bulbs fell by 2.1% to US$6.3, while the global ASP of the 60-watt equivalent products also dropped by 2.3% to US$7.5. “Prices of LED light bulbs continued to fall in the U.S., the U.K. and Japan this September,” said LEDinside analyst Allen Yu.

Starting from 2012, LEDinside, a division of TrendForce began to track global LED light bulb retail average selling prices (ASP). According to historical data, LED light bulb price dropped steadily year by year. The ASP's compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40W-equivalent (equiv.) LED light bulbs fell by 18% from 2012 to 2016. During the same time period, the global average price of 60W-equiv. LED light bulbs decreased by a CAGR of 24%.
Starting from 2017, in order to more accurately reflect all the regional LED light bulb ASPs worldwide, LEDinside upgraded the global LED light bulb retail price database system. The latest data showed, in Jan. 2017, global ASP of 40W-equiv. LED light bulbs was US $6.9. Worldwide ASP of 60W-equiv. LED light bulbs reached US $8.4.

In an environment of intense price wars, nothing can grab LED manufacturers attention more than "price hikes." Chinese LED manufacturers MLS, Kinglight and other manufacturers all raised their product prices in March 2016. Another wave of price hikes occurred in May, when San’an Opto and Taiwanese LED manufacturer Epistar increased prices. Recent market rumors point towards another round of price upticks.

LEDinside, a division of TrendForce, reports the global average sales prices of 40-watt and 60-watt equivalent LED light bulbs in July fell 0.7% and 0.6% versus the prior month, respectively, to US$9.5 and US$12.9.
“July was the start of the traditional off season for the LED industry,” said LEDinside analyst Allen Yu. “Furthermore, the economic conditions in Europe and the U.S. remained weak, so the demand rebound that occurred in the lighting market was limited to just the second quarter. Retail prices of LED light bulbs slid entering the third quarter, and some products suffered larger price drops on account of promotional activities.”

The Philips LED A19 product line will be introduced with a 60-watt LED equivalent bulb that costs just $4.97 without utility rebates, making it the most affordable 60-watt LED bulb on the market.
