Korean Display Makers Suffer Business Loss due to Low Demands and Expects Improvement in 2Q19

Samsung and LG have both released their financial results for the first quarter of 2019 with profit loss in their display business resulting from the sluggish market. Samsung registered a revenue of KRW 6.12 trillion (US$ 5.24 billion) for its Display Panel Business in 1Q19 with an operating loss of KRW 0.56 trillion (US$ 479 million). Signify Posts Financial Results of 1Q19 with Sales Growth

Signify reported a profit growth in the first quarter of 2019 which ended by March 31. Adjusted EBITA came to EUR 115 million (US$128.34 million), increased by 8.8%YoY. Net income of 1Q19 doubled from EUR 20 million (US$22.33 million) last year to EUR 44 million (US$49.1 million) as a result of better operational profitability and lower restructuring costs. Everlight Ready to Enter Q3 Peak Season with Stable Performance in Q2

Taiwanese LED packaging company Everlight announced a fairly stable revenue of 2Q17. The company is said to have performed better than in 1Q17 and its sales of 2H17 is anticipated to outnumber that in 1H17. As the traditional peak season of this year is right around the corner, the overall demand, mainly for applications such as IR LED, interior and exterior automotive lighting and fine pitch displays, will soar. Lextar Reports Steady Revenue Growth for 2Q14

Lextar Electronics Corp (Lextar) today reported consolidated revenue for the second quarter of 2014 of NT$ 3.8 billion (US $130 million), up 17.7 percent from previous quarter. Consolidated gross margin was 14.5 percent, with a 2 percent QoQ growth. Net profit for 2Q 2014 was NT$ 163 million; a basic EPS for 2Q was NT$ 0.32.

NLB: Lighting Systems Index Performance “Extremely Encouraging”

 “Extremely encouraging” is how National Lighting Bureau Executive Director John Bachner characterized 2Q13 performance of the NEMA Lighting Systems Index (LSI), which posted its strongest showing since the 3Q08. “The quarter-to-quarter (QOQ) increase was 2.4 percent; not earth-shattering, to be sure, but it was the third consecutive quarterly increase, and represents an almost-5 percent increase in lighting-equipment shipments on a year-over-year (YOY) basis.
