OLED lighting panels (P07 Series) made by Lumiotec have been adopted to illuminate a highlight of Special Exhibition” Treasured Masterpieces from the National Palace Museum, Taipei” 1 currently held at the Tokyo National Museum. The OLED panels are adopted to illuminate 15 exhibition cases, including “San Shi Pan” 2 (made in Western Zhou dynasty, B.C.8 – 9th century)”.
Lumiotec’s P07 Series OLED panels provide the world’s highest standard of color reproductivity3 that enables vivid presentation of color variations plus soft, uniform, surface-radiated light that causes minimal reflection of the light fixture, creating a subdued exhibition environment. In addition, because the panels give off neither ultraviolet nor infrared rays, the light source generates heat evenly and with minimal rise in temperature.

Under supervision of Tokyo National Museum, exhibition hall and its illumination were designed by DESIGN OFFICE io, and installation of the exhibition was handled by Nomura Co. With its properties, P07 OLED panels are able to set close to exhibits, creating light up effect with soft and uniform light causing minimal reflection.
With the properties such as high color reproduction, uniform radiation and low heat emission of P07 OLED panels, MHI will continue to develop the field of lighting for museums.
The adoption of OLED lighting panels to illuminate exhibits of this kind offers a number of salient advantages:

The fine colors of the exhibited item are faithfully reproduced.

There is minimal reflection of the lighting panels onto the exhibited item.

Especially delicate items such as textiles and paper suffer less damage (fading, discoloration, etc.) than with conventional light sources3 – due to the absence of ultraviolet light and the presence of minimal damage-causing wavelength components in visible light.

Exhibits suffer less damage from heat or temperature changes than with use of conventional light sources – owing to the absence of infrared rays and radiant heat, plus minimal temperature rise by the light source itself.

The emitted light is remarkably soft, so it is never distracting and can be used even at floor level.

The inscript at the bottom of the pan indicating territoriar dispute of numerous nations at the time, is an extremely rare substance. Along with its remarkably unique inscription, it figures prominently not only in political but also in calligraphy history of China. The work was a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Jiaqing Emperor at 1809 by his allegiant. Symbolizingthe power for establishing territory boundary, it is the one and only existence, truly worthy for emperors’ collection.
