AFC Bournemouth Enters Premier League with LEDs Upgrade

As the newest addition to the Barclays Premier League for the 2015 season, AFC Bournemouth demonstrated that its home field will shine brightly on the world stage with the addition of Musco’s state-of-the-art LED lighting solution at Vitality Stadium.

After achieving promotion to the English Premier League, the club were informed that upgrades to Vitality Stadium floodlighting would be necessary in order to comply with the Premier League's requirements.

For the new lighting system at the stadium, they chose to partner with Musco, the recognised global innovator in sports lighting. Musco has pioneered the evolution of LED lighting in stadiums and arenas around the world.

“We are really pleased with the installation of our new LED floodlighting system,” AFC Bournemouth general manager Liz Finney said. “On promotion this season, we needed to install a new pitch lighting system to meet the requirements of both the club and the Premier League in a fairly short space of time. Musco delivered on all counts, providing a flexible and professional approach.”

With the new system in place, fans of the Cherries will enjoy a truly enhanced match-day experience with the elimination of glare and a much brighter and uniform light distribution across the ground. In fact, light levels at Vitality Stadium have increased by 75 percent.

With the increase in light levels, energy consumption has only increased by 18 percent compared to the prior floodlights, and operating costs have been significantly reduced with Musco’s parts and labour warranty, which eliminates maintenance for the next decade.

“We’re proud to partner with AFC Bournemouth as they celebrate their move into the Barclays Premier League,” said Jeff Rogers, President of Musco World. “The new system provides a much more efficient, focused light on the pitch, ensuring Cherries fans in the stadium and at home a world-class experience.”

The new lighting system meets the approval of the Premier League, and will help deliver exceptional HD broadcasts and slow motion replay with the elimination of the flicker effect.

AFC Bournemouth is the second Premier League club to feature Musco’s LED lighting system, and joins the ranks of a number of top professional sports teams around the world that have had them installed, including the Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium, the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, rugby’s historic Twickenham Stadium, and the Houston Texans’ NRG Stadium.
