The Lexington Art League unveiled a new interactive LED sculpture in Triangle Park in the heart of downtown Lexington, Kentucky on Feb. 21st. New Moon, a moon shaped lighting sculpture, was designed by Canadian artist-in-residence Caitlind r.c. Brown and Wayne Garrett as an ode to the celestial bodies above us.

Designed specifically for the Lexington Art League, New Moon is created with a mixture of LED bulbs and incandescent bulbs. The incandescent bulbs were all donated by the local community which gives visitors a personal connection to the sculpture.

The display has had a few bumps along the way during its stay in the park. Earlier this week, a winter storm damaged the part of the sculpture that rotates the globe and also dimmed several lights on the interior. All damaged lights will be replaced with LEDs and the sculpture will continue to be on display until Mar. 28th.
New Moon will be on display at the Lexington Triangle Park from Feb. 21-Mar. 28.
The Canadian duo have created similar celestial-inspired works in the past that use LEDs and motion sensors;
