Solid state lighting has been claimed by some to be more energy efficient and more environmental friendly than other forms of lighting technology. But is it ready to enter the mass market?
Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Limited (NAMI) had organized a Solid State Lighting Forum titled “Dawning of a New Age? The Advent of Solid State Lighting for the Mass Market” on April 3, 2009 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Co-organized with Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the forum had invited distinguished speakers from universities and the LED industry to share their views of the latest solid state lighting development, its feasibility in general lighting applications, potentials, and challenges. It also provided a unique platform where academics, business professionals, government officials, and end users from lighting, building and services industry to exchange their ideas and experience on the use of LED and OLED.
