American Illumination, Inc®, a LED engine design and manufacturing company, is introducing the patent pending Light Plugz® light engines designed for the Cree XP family of LEDs.  Produced especially for light fixture designers, the Light Plugz® series incorporates intelligent thermal sensing technology, advanced custom optics, improved heat tolerance and a selection of interchangeable heat sinks.  
 
In order to prevent shortened lifetime due to excessive heat, the Light Plugz® series includes built-in intelligent thermal sensing technology that self-regulates the current to reduce heat without complete shut-off.  When the heat drops, the current regulates itself to rise back to the previous level of light output.
  
“Our Light Plugz® feature a single chip per engine and are designed to run cooler, offer higher lumen output, and provide greater efficiency with a smaller footprint,” said Mark Lee, president of American Illumination.  “Preliminary testing shows a substantial improvement of lumens output and efficacy for the LP3 and LP5 series Plugz.  We’ve nearly doubled the efficacy and increased lumens output up to 70%.  This level of performance and scope of models offered makes the LP series ideal for any application where you might consider an MR11 or MR16 bulb, such as indoor decorative fixtures, architectural applications, signage, retail, display, museum, landscape, or commercial.”
 
Light Plugz® are produced with a wide variety of standard connectors and lead wire types, thus contributing to their versatility in retrofit and unique indoor or outdoor lighting applications. 
 
American Illumination has also enhanced the Light Plugz® line with custom optics available from 10 to 80 degrees.  Optics can be swapped for uniquely designed decorative lenses that create an omnidirectional glow and bulb-like aesthetic.  Several design improvements have also been made to enhance thermal conductivity, assure reliability and maximize engine life.
