According to The Korea Herald, LG Display has beat Samsung to be selected by Korean government for developing 60-inch flexible OLED displays by 2017 as part of its Future Flagship Program.
So far, the world's largest flexible OLED display measures just 7.4 inches, so the LG-led consortium has a great deal of research and development ahead to create significantly larger transparent and flexible OLED displays.
Led by The Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the program seeks to bolster Korea's economy by creating 840,000 jobs and exports valued at $56 billion.
If the project succeeds in producing by 2017, they could be used in stores, bus stations, or variety of other commercial applications.
