Nationstar Has Hands Full with New LED Patents and Government Subsidies

Nationstar announced the company’s acquirement of two LED manufacturing patents as well as two district government subsidies for subsidiary Foshan Nationstar Optoelectronics totaling RMB 10.24 million (US $1.7 million) in a report on Dec, 12, 2013.

The company received two patents for “Methods for allocation of phosphor coating for white light LEDs” and “High conductivity thermal substrate, LED device, and LED module.” Both patents are effective for 20 years.

Nationstar Opto received two government subsidies from Nanhai District Finance Bureau in Foshan Municipality. The first subsidy is for the first two phases of the strategic emerging industry government, financial institutes, and enterprise cooperation project of RMB 4.55 million and the second is for a 2013 import subsidy of RMB 5.69 million. The subsidies will be part of the company’s non-business income and will be included in this quarter’s profit and loss, and will have limited impact on the company’s performance.
