PEA Kicks Off EcoLight Tech Asia 2014

Officials from Thailand’s Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), NCC Exhibition Organizer (NEO) and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) attended the opening ceremony of EcoLight Tech Asia 2014 on Tuesday. The show will run from Nov. 12-14, 2014 at the Queen Sirkit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.

In its second year, the B2B trade show is expected to attract more than 5,000 international visitors from around the world, up from 4,000 visitors from last year, and will create a turnover of THB 5,000 million (US $152.25 million), stated organizers. The show this year has attracted leading players in the Thai LED lighting market including Philips, L&E, and others to participate. “In this trade show, worldwide leading exhibitors from more than 100 enterprises are going to display their innovations, and open trade negotiations,” said Sakchai, Pattarapreechakul, Managing Director of the NCC Group.

Thai government agency PEA has been a leader in promoting energy-efficient LED technology, and launching incentives to encourage the replacement of less efficient light sources. Through its “PEA Green Office” the government agency has continued to campaign and demonstrate the switch to LED bulbs is more effective, and power efficient, said Namchai Lorwattanatrakul, Governor of PEA.

“PEA has a clear policy to promote energy conservation and energy efficiency in households and industries by offering incentives for entrepreneurs to invest in new energy saving devices, and by encouraging households to reduce electricity consumption in a practical way,” stated Lorwattannatrakul in an earlier press release in August. A Smart Lighting Showcase area was especially set up at the trade show this year to demonstrate pragmatic LED lighting applications in the retail, home, and hotel sector.

The trade show is also expected to act as a networking platform for manufacturers and traders from ASEAN countries. “We realize the importance of the trade show ‘PEA presents EcoLightTech Asia 2014’ and are more than willing to support the activities in terms of foreign markets in countries such as the Philippines and Vietnam including the ASEAN plus 6 countries and countries in the BISMEC group,” said Jaruwan Suwannasat, Exhibitions and Events Director, TCEB.

NCC approach has been in-line with PEA”s vision this year, and meets the UN goals of making the year 2014 “International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies” to urge the international community to recognize the importance of technology in lighting for the present and future living, said Pattarapreechakul.
