TLLIA to Launch MIT Specs and Luminaire Database

Taiwan’s LED Lighting Industry Alliance (TLLIA) has been the first association in the country with members from traditional lighting and LED industry, according to a CNA report. Members from both industries will initiate and launch a luminaire database search engine. The alliance will also promote MIT labeled Taiwanese LED lighting modules to enter the international lighting market.

Members within the alliance will form LED lighting standards and shared module specs, said the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), a department under Taiwan’s- Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Members of the alliance will receive counseling and learn how to key in commercialized product data into the luminaire database. The database will be connected to the global luminaire supply network to speed up Taiwanese manufacturers’ internationalization, and entry into the international market.

To achieve the above goal, the association will be working with members from lighting and interior design associations. By speaking to designers, manufacturers can develop luminaires that meet market demands. Modernized and innovative LED luminaires can be developed with the aid from the association.

In addition, to stimulate Taiwanese manufacturers’ creative indoor lighting designs, TLLIA plans to host a LED lighting creativity design competition during third quarter 2014. The competition will be open to Taiwanese university or college design departments. The team of the winning design will be given a chance to commercialize their design.
