Sanan Optoelectronics to Set up Micro LED Capacity in 2019

Mini LED has entered the market with manufacturers continuously reporting the launch of new products with Mini LED applications in the past few months. Meanwhile, the industry does not intend to stop the progress of Micro LED development. Chinese LED chip maker Sanan Optoelectronics will build its Micro LED epi-wafer and chip production, according to industry sources.

Sanan Opto has reported its partnership with Samsung in developing Micro LED display technology earlier this year and the company has applied for 27 patents related to Micro LED technology. It is said that Sanan has developed Micro LEDs sized 20 micrometers and will be able to produce 4-micrometer LEDs and 10-micrometer LED flip-chips with the new facility added.

With the new Micro LED facility, Sanan plans to manufacture Micro LEDs used for smart wearable devices, large size displays of over 100-inches and automobile taillights, said the sources.

The sources added that Sanan has produced blue-light and green-light Micro LED chips whose brightness has reached the standard for TVs. Although the brightness of its red-light Micro LED chips is below standard, they are expected to be improved in September 2018.
