The Massive 85" TCL QM8 4K Mini-LED Smart TV Is on Sale Today at Best Buy

News Source:

Best Buy is offering TCL's flagship 2023 TV for the lowest price ever. Right now you can get the 85" TCL QM8 (QM850G) 4K Mini-LED QLED Smart TV for only $1399.99. This same model was on sale for $1800 during Black Friday. This was TCL's highest end TV last year and has a ton of premium features like a quantum dot Mini-LED display, HDMI 2.1 inputs for 4K @ 120Hz gaming, and a higher peak brightness than any OLED TV on the market. In terms of picture quality, Mini-LED TVs are considered the best outside of OLED TVs, while costing hundreds less than OLED TVs.

The QM8 is TCL's only 2023 model that's equipped with a quantum dot Mini-LED panel. Mini LED panels offer even more precise local dimming than standard LED LCD TVs because the zones are smaller and more numerous. Whereas a normal LCD TV with local dimming might have hundreds of zones of dimming, the QM8 boasts a whopping 2,300 zones. In addition, the quantum dot technology allows for a brighter image and better color saturation. The QM8 is rated at up to 2,000nits of peak brightness, which is far brighter than any OLED TV on the market. Besides the obvious advantage of boosting contrast ratio, it's also practical; a brighter TV helps overcome glare and reflections if you watch a lot of TV in a room with a lot of lighting. The QM8 supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, unlike LG TVs which only support Dolby Vision and Samsung TVs which only support HDR10+.

The TCL QM8 also has current-gen gamers covered. It has a native 120Hz panel as well as two HDMI 2.1 inputs for 4K gaming at up to 120Hz on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Other features include variable refresh rate (VRR) with Game Accelerator 240 (up to 240Hz refresh rate at 1080p), auto low latency mode (ALLM), and AMD FreeSync Pro certification.

As a comparison to TCL's current crop of 2024 TVs, the 2023 TCL QM8 is most comparable to its successor, the TCL QM851G. This is still TCL's highest end TV of 2024. Like last year's QM8, it features a quantum dot Mini-LED panel. Unlike the last year's QM8, it's a whopping $1500 more expensive.
