Fremont Micro Devices launched two new application samples for the FT838RNA. The FT838RNA facilitates the design of AC/DC LED driver applications. The LED current can be accurately regulated by sensing the primary side information with a few external components without the need for an opto-coupler and TL431. The integrated low voltage lockout and built-in cable compensation functions can lower the cost and increase the efficiency, in order to offer consumers the more affordable LED lighting products.
“The two new FT838RNA application examples enable designers to rapidly develop and evaluate 1-3W or 3-5W LED designs.” said Shu Min Panfil, Director of Corporate Communications, for Fremont Micro Devices USA.
The FT838RNA has an integrated bipolar junction transistor (NPN) which enables LED Driver Designs with a higher than 22uA stand by current. The low operating current reduces the VCC hold up capacitance requirement. The extremely low start-up and operating current reduces power consumption which improves system reliability.
The FT838RNA in a SOP-8 package has a list price of $0.10 for volume orders of 10ku. The reference designs are available from stock.
