The Kerala state government plans to upgrade its traditional streetlights to LED streetlights in 68 municipalities, said Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali in the Assembly earlier on Monday according to a news report from The New Indian Express.
The project is funded by Nagara Jyothi, a scheme under the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project. The project includes streetlights upgrade in urban areas, Ali said.
Energy Efficiency Service Limited, a joint-venture of public sector units of Ministry of Power, will be in charge in carrying out the project. “The Central agency will carry out five-year maintenance of the LED lamp,” Ali said.
