Just longer than a football field -- and consisting of over 10,000 solar-powered LED lights, the lucy light forest responds to movement and transforms daily exercise into an enchanting and awe-inspiring experience. By tracking with movement, the light forest responds to each person as they pass through it, radiating beautiful amber hues of light and complementary tones of sound for everyone to see and hear. The lucy light forest was designed to represent that feeling you get from a great workout.
"We know that our customer participates in many activities, and we wanted to find a way to acknowledge what she is doing and celebrate her commitment to a fit and active life," said Laurie Etheridge, President. "With the lucy light forest we hope to celebrate that everyday movement and provide a beautiful moment to share."
lucy chose Boston for its first installation of the light forest because of its vibrant active community, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation's commitment to enhancing the outdoor experience, and the scenic, public parklands along the Charles River Esplanade. lucy will curate a series of (free) expert-hosted group runs, boot camps and yoga classes in the light forest beginning October 7th, 2013, just west of the historic Hatch Memorial Shell on the DCR Esplanade, located at 1 David G Mugar Way. The light forest will illuminate the Charles' edge from October 3rd - October 13th 2013.
"DCR is committed to exploring partnerships that highlight the one-of-a-kind experience our State Park system provides," said DCR Commissioner Jack Murray, "The lucy light forest is an opportunity to showcase the Esplanade in a truly unique way, while promoting the importance of exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle."
The light forest will continue to celebrate movement and the women who love it in new destinations across the US throughout 2014 and beyond.
