A design team with roots in the U.S. and Germany has launched a Kickstarter campaign for mimooodz, a multi-color LED light bulb that can be controlled with iPhone.

Several of its key features include dimming and color changing via app make mimoodz competitive to intelligent LED light bulbs such as Philips Hue, but costs less than half of those major brands. The single pack of mimoodz costs only US$ 19.
mimoodz is a 6W LED light bulb with 470 lm output, available in different color temperature ranging from 2,700K to 4,000K. The 6W LED bulb emits warm white glow and has the same lighting effect of a 40W incandescent light bulb, but much more efficient. The smart light bulb is available in different sockets.
A comparison of the incandescent light bulb and mimoodz in terms of lifespan and energy consumption.
The mimoodz LED bulb can be switched on and off just like the conventional light, using the switch on the wall. However, dimming and color changing RGB LED requires the use of the designated mimoodz app. The smart light bulb and the app is connected via Bluetooth 4.0. The app connects to up to eight light bulbs simultaneously, and several light bulbs can be controlled at the same time as a defined group. According to the design team, the smart light bulb can even follow music, create dynamic lighting effect for parties and events.
Users can choose from two different sockets.
Having surveyed many existing smart light bulb control apps, mimoodz app is designed to simplify the control and improve user experience. The mimoodz currently supports only iOS and will be available on the App Store soon while the team is still working out practical solution for Android users.
Currently, mimoodz can be shipped to Canada, Germany, UK and U.S. The team has successfully raised US$ 50,089 and will ship the first packages in April 2016.
