Osram Sylvania Expands LED Bulb Selection at Lowe’s

North American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA announced an expanded LED product portfolio that will appear in Lowe's stores and includes seven new OSRAM and SYLVANIA ULTRA brand A-line LED products, the most commonly used type of light bulbs in households.

Available on shelves this month, these new 40-, 60-, 75- and 100-watt replacement dimmable LED bulbs have the familiar look of traditional bulbs and offer consumers an expanded array of choices for replacing incandescent lighting.  In addition to the ever-popular soft white (2700K) light products, natural daylight (5000K) products will also be available in 40-, 60-, and 75-watt equivalents.

"In this new age of lighting, we are seeing innovations with LED technologies that were not possible with traditional lighting," said Matt McCarron, V.P. of Retail Sales at OSRAM SYLVANIA. "This is a pivotal year in the lighting market as we will more fully feel the impact of incandescent light bulbs exiting the market. These new LED light bulbs come at a perfect time and offer what consumers want most from lighting – brightness, energy savings and a long life-that is all available in the familiar shape of the incandescent bulbs they replace."

The highlight of the new LED lineup is the 60W replacement bulb, which boasts strong energy savings by using only 8.5 watts while providing consumers the performance they expect.  Both the 40W and 60W equivalent Soft White LED bulbs are currently Energy Star rated and can be purchased exclusively in Lowe's stores or on Lowes.com for under US $10.

"Up until this point, consumers have been forced to compromise on the appearance of their light bulb in order to receive the long life and energy savings associated with LED technology," said Dean Kochalka, Lowe's merchandising vice president for lighting. "Our new line of 60-watt and 40-watt replacement bulbs gives consumers the best of light bulb design and energy efficiency, providing a perfect solution for replacing traditional light bulbs in the home."
