Taiwanese LED chip packaging company EVERLIGHT Electronics on April 9 announced that it has won a patent infringement lawsuit against Seoul Semiconductor in South Korea.

On April 5, the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) dismissed a patent invalidity lawsuit filed by Seoul Semiconductor over EVERLIGHT’s patent KR768539. Yet, KIPO confirmed the validity of the patent and issued the Taiwan-based firm a favourable ruling, according to the firm’s announcement.

EVERLIGHT also expressed its confidence to win two patent infringement lawsuits it filed with the District Court of Mannheim, Germany against its Korean rival and Neumüller Elektronik GmbH (Neumüller).

The two lawsuits were filed on May 4th and July 3rd, 2017 respectively. The company has requested rulings from local courts to prohibit the defendants to import, export, manufacture, or distribute patent infringing products, as well as ask them to recall and destroy any inventories of infringing products.

EVERLIGHT said its IP portfolio covers products including low- to high-power LED packages used in backlights, general lighting, and automotive lighting applications. The portfolio supports and protects the company’s trading activities in Taiwan, Japan, China, Europe, and the States.
