Qisda Corp., a consumer electronics subsidiary company of the BenQ Group, has won the Red Dot Award of Germany, according to Hsiung Huei, the president and chief executive of the company. And this can be seen as a proof of the company’s more participation in the upscale LED lighting market.
The Qisda LED lamps were awarded the Red Dot for the innovative designs and unique functions, according to Huei, and these lamps would be supplied to luxury restaurants and hotels in the third quarter at the earliest.
Qisda has its own advantages in entering the LED lighting market, as the LED chipmaker Lextar Electronics Corp of the group is of help. Besides developing designs and innovative ideas on its own, Qisda also has plans to cooperate with European, American and Japanese brand-name upscale lighting manufacturers as contract supplier.
The company had revenue of NTD 270 million last quarter which had exceeded the expectation, and LCD has still been its major revenue source with 71% portion in the total revenue.
