LEDs give Sony’s TV sales in Japan a shot in the arm, the firm's year-end sales expected to grow by 50%

Recently, Nobuki Kurita, president of Sony’s marketing unit in Japan indicated that Sony’s 2009 year-end LCD TV sales in Japan is expected to grow by 50% compared to the same period last year.

Sony has set it sights on the vast business opportunity in year-end sales, and announced that it will unveil the BRAVIA ZX5 series on November 20th – these models are LED backlit HDTVs with integrated wireless connectivity. These models, the BRAVIA KDL-52ZX5 (52-inch) and KDL-46ZX5, also feature an ultra-slim 15.8mm and 16.6mm bezel, respectively.
 
Kurita said, “Since the start of the eco-point program in May, television sales have been extremely positive.” He added that this stimulus may extend till the end of the year, and spur Sony’s 2009 year-end LCD TV sales in Japan by 50%. Sony is highly optimistic about the outlook for the coming year-end sales.
