China's Ministry of Science and Technology made a plan to install around 100,000 streetlights in 10 major metropolises across the mainland last year. China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in charge of the implementation of the project, and is considering offering Taiwan's manufacturers half of the contracts designated for four cities in Guangdong, Fujian and Sichuan .
It's said that based on the assumption that each LED streetlight costs NT$20,000 (US$625), Taiwan's manufacturers will benefit total revenue of around NT$1 billion (US$31 million) from 50,000 streetlights. Epistar, Everlight Electronics and Genius Electronic Optical are potential contract recipients.
