Azerbajin, a country located in Central Asia, is aiming to bring LED manufacturing to the country by working with LG, reported Azernews.
The country’s State Fund for Development of Information Technologies has announced it will be financing the deployment of LED production in 2015.
LED technologies will mainly be applied in streetlights in the capital, as well as in decorative, general lighting, architectural buildings, streets, parks and main roads.
The commercial project will be implemented by the Azerbaijani Research Center for High Technologies and South Korea’s LG Company.
Azerbajin made LEDs will meet domestic demands first before being exported to other international markets.
LEDs are expected to be mass produced in the country’s Hi-Tech Park, and the country is already employing the LED production technology, said the Research Center.
The country has expressed interest in developing its own chip production technology earlier, and has plans of allocating US $7 million to develop thin layer semiconductor chips, which can be applied in a broad range of electronic products including LED.
