Guangdong Lighting Industry Incurs Greatest Losses in China for 1Q15

The Guangdong Province in Southern China incurred the greatest losses in China’s lighting industry, according to monthly statistics compiled by the country's National Bureau of Statistics.

Guangdong losses soared 45.72% compared to the same period in 2014 to reach RMB 277 million (US $44.61 million), which amounted to about 29.95% of its total losses.

During the first four months of 2015, China’s LED lighting industry accumulated a total loss of RMB 956 million, an increase of 19.14% compared to the previous year. Regions in China that incurred the greatest losses were Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Fujian areas.

The lighting luminaire industry has been the hardest hit, with loses climbing up 11.84% YOY to RMB 615 million and making up about 66.42% of total lighting industry financial loss. Trailing in second was drivers, which saw annual losses increase 31.44% to RMB 214 million and comprising about 23.07% of total losses. Other luminaires and auxiliary lighting components also saw steep 50.19% YOY increase in losses that reached RMB 97 million (or amounting to 10.51% of total losses).
