Intel and Taiwan University Jointly Develop LED Stoplight to Reduce Traffic Accidents

On June 25, Intel demonstrated a research project in San Francisco, which can help reducing traffic accidents. Intel and Taiwan University are jointly developing this project to provide better communication between the vehicles, such as using LED stoplight.

The researchers use a laptop to adjust the tail lights, so it can receive and display vehicle status data.

Intel demonstrates it with two motorcycles, which is everywhere on the streets of Taiwan. Whenever the motorcycle in the front is decelerating, accelerating, cornering or parking, etc., the rear LED lights on motorcycle will warn, the car behind will see it. In motion, the system can also transfer the current speed of motorcycle.

As a member of the research team, Dr. Minlin Hao from Taiwan University said that the drivers behind can have one more second to react via the warning of LED stoplight.
