Philips Advances the Lighting Reformation in the Middle East

On the informative conference hosted at the Change Initiative by Royal Philips, Mr. Adbo Rouhana proposed insights and initiatives that to reform lighting and its applications in the Middle East.

During the session, Mr. Rouhana pointed that lighting consumes 19% of all electricity across the world and 22% across the Middle East. This, of course, has an environmental impact when comparing incandescent bulbs to LED lamps.

"Lighting plays an important role in our lives and the impact is all around us," said Rouhana. "Being at the forefront of lighting innovation, Philips continues to drive end-to-end solutions, from the latest LED technology to intelligent management and control systems, to help solve some of these challenges."

One of the latest innovations from Philips Lighting is the 20 watt Philips MASTER LED lamp designed to replace a 100 watt incandescent lamp while only consuming less than 25% energy, offering light output at nearly 1800 lumens, and having a lifespan up to 25 times longer. This lamp offers a dimmable glow effect for a welcoming, warm atmosphere, making it ideal for general lighting applications. Its unique design radiates warm light in all directions, making it an idea substitute for the incandescent lamp. They are particularly suitable for public areas such as lobbies, corridors, stairwells.

The Change Initiative is one of Philips' many customers in the UAE and have worked together to ensure that the lighting in its Sheikh Zayed Road store is both low on energy consumption and creates the right ambience for customers.

"The Philips Lighting team in the Middle East has helped us to choose the most energy efficient LED lighting in the region and has been awarded the LED Platinum certification, obtaining the position of the most sustainable building in the world," said Gundeep Singh, CEO and founder of The Change Initiative in Dubai. "The lighting system has been designed to reduce the energy consumption by 42% than the specified limit."
