MPI publics finance result in 3Q10

Wafer probe card maker MJC Probe (MPI) earned profit NT$272 million (US$8.88 million), up 56%compared to 2Q ,with NT$3.52 per share in net profits, exceeding the total for the whole first half. Gross margin reached about 44.6%, higher than previously expected by market observers. From 1Q to 3Q in 2010, the company posted net profits of NT$515 million, EPS of NT$6.67 and gross margin of 41.7%.

The strong result was benefit from brisk sales for LED testing equipment. September was the company's highest monthly record for the segment to shipped 312 LED probers. Now, MPI can produce over 300 LED probers every month and plans to expand its capacity to 400-450 units by 3Q11.

Look forward 4Q10, affected from weakened demand from the IC packaging and testing sector, shipments of MPT’s wafer probe cards may decline by 5-10% sequentially.
