Taiwan Establishes Two Technical Committees to Participate in Global LED Lighting Standards

Under the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE), or the International Commission on Illumination, Taiwan is about to strengthen its involvement in global solid state lighting norms and standards following the establishment of two technical committees, the Committee on Photometry of Curved and Flexible OLED and LED Sources and the Committee on Characterization of AC-Driven LED Products for SSL Applications.

The establishment of two technical committees marks a milestone in Taiwan's participation in establishing global standards for SSL applications.

It’s said that Taiwan became a member of the CIE in March 2010 after a Taiwanese affiliate, CIE-Taiwan, was established to boost LED/OLED lighting research and applications.

According to Hsing-sheng Chu, vice president of the ITRI, also chairman of CIE-Taiwan,with the establishment of the two committees, Taiwan has become a trailblazer of CIE standards and norms rather than a follower.

Chu also discloses that, Hsueh-ling Yu, an ITRI specialist, will serve as chairwoman of the CIE Committee on Photometry of Curved and Flexible OLED and LED Sources. And Pei-ting Chou, an ITRI manager, will chair the CIE Committee on Characterization of AC-driven LED Products for SSL Ppplications.
