DARIEN, CT — Darien High School this week unveiled a cutting-edge LED video wall in its auditorium, which was provided through a grant from The Darien Foundation.
The video wall will be used by students in music, theater, art, technology and other STEAM classes to collaborate on and create innovative digital content for school events, presentations, performances, and more.
The wall features high-resolution display capabilities and vibrant colors, and it was mounted on an electronic hoist system allowing it to be raised and lowered as needed.
An unveiling ceremony was held on Sept. 10 where attendees were shown a demonstration of the equipment's capabilities.
"We are incredibly grateful to The Darien Foundation for this incredible gift," said Darien Public Schools Director of Visual and Performing Arts Colleen Thompson, in a news release. "The LED video wall will greatly enhance the DHS auditorium and will be beneficial across disciplines, transforming the auditorium from its typical function as a performance and presentation venue to an interactive teaching and learning space."
Installation of the 72-panel video wall was part of comprehensive audio and video upgrades at the auditorium.
"We are excited to see all of the creative ways that this capital investment in STEAM technology will enhance the learning experience and enrich the curriculum at Darien High School," said Ward Glassmeyer, chair of The Darien Foundation Board, in a news release. "As someone who graduated from DHS, it’s especially meaningful to me when The Darien Foundation creates opportunities for Darien’s students."
Superintendent of Darien Public Schools Dr. Alan Addley called the video wall an "amazing teaching and learning resource for our students, staff and community."
"It is truly unique and very impressive. The district is grateful for The Darien Foundation’s continued generosity and support of our student and educational programming," Addley said in a news release.
DHS staff and students will be trained on how to use the technology.
