Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Uses LEDs to Create Different Moods of Lighting

The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Regensburg, Germany has recently had its conference room renovated with linear modules with Golden Dragon LEDs from OSRAM. The LEDs hidden behind a large panel can provide any lighting of any mood, color and intensity depending on different occasions in the room. The renovating project was completed by OSRAM Opto Semiconduct together with LI-EX (LED Light Design Expert)

Equipped with Golden Dragon LEDs in red, green and blue, the linear modules in the conference room provide light in any color required, from warm red tones for a feel-good atmosphere to bright white light for total concentration, from cool disco colors to smooth color transitions.

The background linear modules of the panel contain red, green and blue LEDs, and provide light in powerful and vibrant colors directly without the need for filters thus no efficiency loss either. They are dimmable, extremely durable (with a life of around 50,000 hours) and virtually maintenance-free, ideal as illumination and design elements, particularly for integration in lighting panels and other architectural structures.

“As far as I am concerned, success is always a combination of quality, emotion and innovation.” said Arne Klehn, General Manager of the hotel, “If you are promoting a particular concept you must be excited about it. Only then will your enthusiasm be contagious. Innovation means finding a new way of doing something, in other words, being different from the rest. In this major project involving our two strong regional partners we are certainly making a bold statement in the rather conservative world of conference facilities.”

Artur Groesbrink, the project manager from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors for the project, is very pleased with the outcome: “Our aim was to use semiconductor light as a creative and innovative tool for conference rooms in the hotel sector, and we succeeded brilliantly. The light panel is so magical that it is difficult to take your eyes off it.”
