Digital Lumens Inc. has signed up United States Cold Storage Inc., a Pennsylvania-based refrigerated storage and logistics company to strengthen the customer base for its highly-efficient LED lighting systems.

According to Digital Lumens, the company had the lighting systems installed in a new 88,000-square-foot addition in Hazleton, Pa., and expects a return on investment of 14.6 months.

With the system which combines LED technology with networking and software, to create a super-efficient lighting system that can be easily controlled wirelessly, it can cut energy cost by as much as 90 percent.

Early in November, Digital Lumens has expanded its line to include systems for manufacturing facilities.and at the same time, Digital Lumens confirmed that it had lured the chief financial officer at A123 Systems Inc., Michael Rubino, to serve as CFO at the company.
