NXP Semiconductors N.V. has promoted two collections of automotive LED driver ICs ASL1010NTK and ASL1010PHN, designed for vehicle LED headlights and tail lights.
According to NXP, automotive LEDs have used complex, relatively expensive driver ICs made for generic Solid State Lighting applications that lack many of the critical functions needed for automotive applications.

Lumiotec announced that they will begin mass production of OLED Lighting panels in January 2011. The production capacity will be around 60,000 panels a year, and the company will offer panels in five different shapes (two squares and three rectangular) and in two different colors: lamp (3000K) and natural white (5000K). Selling 60,000 panels a year means that most of these will go into commercial lamps, and not just 'sample designs'.

America Tampa, Florida based LED lighting maker LEDnovation has recently launched a line of MR16 lamps for use in standard low voltage lighting applications and previously brought to market A19 or "Edison" type LED replacement lamps optimized for use in downlights and other semi-enclosed directional fixtures.
The new lamp has been both electronically and optically optimized to eliminate the scalloping, rings and other optical variations that are often seen in traditional reflector lamps.

LCD chipmaker Formosa Epitaxy reported October 2010 revenues of NT$400.72 million (US$13.31 million), down 0.04% sequentially but up 58.86% on year.
In November, the company pointed out that demand for TV backlighting was picking up on which revenues depended, but the growth was not as significant as in 2009, and December revenues were expected to drop as clients went through inventory stock checks.

The new series features an advanced heat management system based on liquid cooling technology, which brings the LED temperature down to the optimal level.
