Tridonic Dresden and Fraunhofer COMEDD Present Flexible OLED Desk Luminaire

Tridonic Dresden, the former LEDON OLED lighting, and Franhofer COMEDD are presenting a desk luminaire with flexible OLED at the Plastic Electronics 2013. The product is the result from a joint OLED project R2flex that was focused on the production of highly efficient organic devices on flexible substrates, manufactured in a roll-to-roll process technology. The project that successfully concluded recently, was funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research Germany (BMBF) with a total sum of about 11 million Euros over a period of 2.5 years.

Osram OLED Technology for Car Applications Approaches Maturity

In another step to innovate the future of automotive lighting, Osram takes the opportunity ahead of the Frankfurt International Motor Show to unveil its product roadmap for OLEDs used in automotive applications. “We have essentially achieved road suitability for our OLEDs this year and will be offering initial special equipment based on OLEDs next year," said Ulrich Eisele, head of OLED sector at Osram. "We expect to see OLEDs used in series production of new vehicles by 2016 earliest.” The show is being held from September 12 to September 22, 2013.

Ledlink Invests US $1.5M into Expanding Secondary Optic Operation Equipment for 2013

Secondary optic manufacturer Ledlink felt the effects of increased LED lighting demands when their originally predicted capital expenditure of US $7 million for 2013 instead reached that of US $8 million. Ledlink chairman Tang Delong stated that after the 2Q13 production launch of their newly acquired factory in Yangzhou, the next goal was to increase self manufacturing for mold production with an estimated investment of about US $15 million in order to increase the volume of machines. Starting from November this year, one month’s operation quantity will increase from 100 sets to 150 sets.
