Energy Policy from the Chinese Government’s “11th Five Year Plan” to Boosts LED Lamps Market

To comply with a strict energy policy which aims to cut down CO2 emission and energy consumption from the Chinese government’s “11th Five Year Plan”, big enterprises in the mainland start seeking energy-stingy LED lamps to replace traditional lamps in their plants.

According to LED-lighting makers, sales of T8 light tubes and light bulbs lit up by LEDs will obviously ramp up throughout this quarter.

Because of over supply, sales of LED backlights for LCDTVs are sliding down, but the LED lamps get a bright sale. Therefore, many LED manufacturers have retooled production lines to make lighting products rather than backlight products to capture the upcoming fortune.

According to Taiwan`s LED manufacturers, the price for LED T8 tube has plunged by around 50% from the early 2010 to current NT$1,000 (US$33.3 at US$1:NT$30) apiece.

However, they also show their worry. They fear that sub-quality products made by mainland Chinese manufactures would dampen confidence of users in the lamps.
