Unity Opto Jan. Revenue Up 23%

Taiwanese LED package manufacturer Unity Opto announced consolidated revenue for Jan. 2014 increased 23 percent to NT$ 560 million (US$ 18.49 million), compared to Dec. 2013 or 9 percent YoY. According to the company, as impact from 4Q13 low season is lifted, 1Q14 will reinitiate positive revenue growth cycle.

In addition to already popular lighting products in Europe and U.S., bulb orders are also expected to increase, noted Unity Opto. U.S. ban of 40W and 60W incandescent bulbs and the company’s acquisition of Energy Star certification and subsidies for lighting products are major factors contributing to increased demands.

A new wave of stockup orders also emerged for large backlight TV products after Christmas sales. U.S. and European TV manufacturers placed preorders before the Chinese Lunar New Year to meet stockup demands. Moreover, large international manufacturers are also investing in small sized mobile backlight products. To conclude, Unity Opto’s overall annual revenue growth rate will become positive this year.
