Edison Opto Revenue Up in Jan. 2014

Taiwanese LED package manufacturer Edison Opto consolidated revenue for last month increased 9.51 percent to NT$ 229 million (US$7.56 million) or YoY of 52.22 percent.

Edison Opto noted growth in low to high power LED product orders resulted in strong revenue performance in Jan. 2014. However, affected by the long Chinese Lunar New Year holiday and fewer work days, Feb. 2014 revenue is expected to decline compared to Jan. 2014.

In contrast to the LED industry’s conventional low season in 1Q14, where there are few LED orders, there were strong LED demands in Jan. 2014 for LED lighting products including for low, mid and high power LED products, said Edison Opto. The company is optimistic of LED lighting’s overall growth in 2014.

In an earlier interview, Edison Opto Chairman Jason Wu noted, although the LED lighting market demand will definitely grow, slumping prices cannot be ignored. Edison Opto has been actively developing products with higher product value, such as developing LED panels using direct-type backlight concept to reduce LEDs used, and applying remote phosphor technology in LED tube packaging. These new products have been popular among the company 'sclients.
