Panasonic Lighting Business Profits After Three Straight Years of Loss

Panasonic released their fiscal 2013 financial report on April 28, 2014, which recorded the company’s financial performance up to March 31, 2014. The company had a turn around after three consecutive years of losses. Net profit reached JPY 120.4 billion (US $1.18 billion). 

In fiscal 2013 (April 2013 – March 2014), Panasonic revenue was JPY 7.74 trillion (RMB 473 billion), up 5.9 percent YoY. Operating profit margin increased 89.6 percent YoY to JYP 305.1 billion. 

The company anticipates revenue in fiscal 2014 financial performance, which concludes at the end of March 2015, to reach JYP 7.75 trillion, operating profit margin to hit JYP 310 billion, and net profit to be JYP 140 billion. 

Panasonic’s lighting business reached JYP 322 billion in fiscal 2013, an increase of 107 percent YoY.
