Fremont Micro Devices Releases New LED Driver Design Kit

Fremont Micro Devices USA Inc. announced a new design kit for the FT8260B that reduces the design time of AC/DC LED driver applications.

"The primary purpose of this ultra-thin design is to make the driver board fit in the space behind the LED load board inside a 7W light bulb and maintain the operating temperature rise within an acceptable range," said Jim Panfil, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Fremont Micro Devices USA. "The design kit includes a functional evaluation board plus the specifications, schematic and bill of materials for a 7W LED driver design. These tools will improve time to market because the evaluation board is fully functional and debugged," he added.

The LED evaluation module dimensions are 47 x 21 x10mm. Input is 90-264 Vac, Output is 23Vdc and 300mA Iout. The efficiency is rated 81%, the PF value is 99 at 115Vac, and 95 at 230Vac, THD _7% at 115Vac. Additionally, the module can provide a drive of 13-23Vdc and 0.3A current for an LED light string. The design meets EN55015B EMI requirements.

The FT8260B integrated Circuit in a SOP-8 package has a list price of US $0.22 for volume orders of 10ku.

Samples and production quantities of the FT8260 Family integrated Circuit are available from stock.
