Hitting virtual shelves today, the ZappLight LED light bulb provides a chemical free, spray free and fume free solution to bug invaders, all while providing energy efficient and eco-friendly home lighting.
The ZappLight light bulb features a 920-lumen bulb complete with an additional blue mosquito-attracting UV/LED light that lures the disease carrying insects into a bug-zapping grid to be trapped and zapped safely.
In a demonstration on the ZappLight’s website, the bulb was able attract and kill 20 mosquitoes within a 500 square foot area in under an hour. The bulb lasts almost a lifetime of 50,000 hours to make for strong, dependable defense to transform a location into mosquito free fortress.
ZappLight consumes a maximum of 10-watts of power, 9-watts for the bulb and 1-watt for the zap. The user can toggle between the two options, or run both simultaneously, leaving endless opportunities to trap insect intruders while saving valuable dollars with a low cost LED light bulb.
“This bulb will help stop the spread of mosquito-spread viruses,” said founder Paul Van Kleef. Mosquitoes account for 725,000 deaths annually and incapacitate an additional 2 million every year. “Our goal is to have a bulb in every household affected by these pests worldwide,” said Van Kleef.
Today’s launch is just the beginning for ZappLight, as Van Kleef has global plans for the product. “We are planning on teaming up with a non-profit, such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has a huge focus on solving the Malaria epidemic in Africa,” he said. A portion of the profits from ZappLight sales will be donated to help put the bulb in the developing world.
ZappLight is available on Amazon.com and on the retailer’s website at ZappLight.com. ZappLight will soon be available in retail stores across the country.
