Newbury, United Kingdom, 28th October 2024… AccuSim, the high-performance motorsport simulator company, has launched a technical partnership with Bendac, an industry leader in LED display solutions. The collaboration is focused on the development of AccuVision LED, a scalable, cost-effective LED display system for professional simulators.

In the past, the high cost of LED displays was prohibitive for simulator systems. Working together, Bendac and AccuSim have designed a bespoke solution that meets the unique performance and cost requirements of simulator applications. AccuVision LED is an industry first, offering superior performance to existing projector systems at cost-parity while introducing many functional benefits.

AccuVision LED overcomes many of the challenges and limitations associated with projector systems to provide a groundbreaking and immersive experience using state-of-the-art LED technology. It offers low latency (16.6 milliseconds), and high refresh rates, and equivalent – or better – pixel density to current high-end projection systems. This also means that there are no cross-projection artefacts, requirements for pixel ‘blending’, or the need for high ceilings to mount projectors. This also reduces the number of Image Generators required.

AccuVision LED uses high quality COB (Chip on Board) LED panels to provide superior contrast with ‘truer’ blacks. This makes it far better than projection systems for night and endurance races with variable light volume. These LEDs also deliver true-to-life colour rendition to further increase immersion. Critically, unlike projectors that require a dark environment, staff can work under regular lighting. This also translates to less eye strain for simulator operators, who would usually be focussing on a bright projector screen while surrounded by darkness for, potentially, hours at a time.

Realistic lighting extends beyond the display, with AccuSim and Bendac planning to offer ambient environmental lighting. This achieves realistic levels and shades of light within the simulator’s cockpit by placing light panels above, below, and to the side of the primary display.

AccuVision LED is a compact and modular solution that can be easily disassembled, transported, reconfigured, upgraded, and scaled to meet user requirements. The first AccuVision LED display is currently available for viewing in AccuSim’s demo facility in Oxfordshire, contact AccuSim to arrange a viewing.

Dave Kirkman, Founder of AccuSim, commented: “We are thrilled to be working with Bendac on the development of AccuVision LED for our range of simulator products. It is unlike anything else on the market, bringing the groundbreaking advantages of LED to the professional simulator industry at an affordable price. From the beginning, I knew we needed a display that would match the performance and response of our simulators and the Bendac team really understood our requirements. We look forward to our continued work with Bendac as we develop a wide range of solutions using the unique benefits of the AccuVision LED modularity.”

Ben Da Costa, Chief Commercial Officer at Bendac, added: “This partnership has been four years in the making and we are excited to see its ambitions realised. It has been interesting to work with Dave and the AccuSim team to understand the specific display requirements of simulators and develop a versatile high-performance solution. AccuVision LED addresses the key weaknesses of technologies currently on the market and we can’t wait to see how it performs in early trials with race team customers.”
