NEMA: LED A-Line Shipments Increased in 3Q16

LED A-line lamps continue to grow, accounting for 32.4% of the market in third quarter 2016, and posting a 124.2% increase in shipments compared to 3Q 2015. They posted a 65.1% quarter-over-quarter increase in the third quarter of 2016 compared to the previous quarter. Halogen, Incandescent, and CFLs all posted a quarter-to-quarter decrease, 7.5%, 17.2%, and 12.8% respectively. Incandescent lamp shipments showed a 5.6 % increase in 3Q 2016 compared to 3Q 2015 while halogen and CFLs posted an 11 percent and 53.9% decrease for the same time period.

Modern LED City Light pillars equipped with the Street Light Control system and Einstone technology from Osram were installed in a city-wide intelligent network to form the basis for the Wipperfürth Smart City project. Lumileds Launches Multi-Die Emitter for Outdoor Fixtures

Lumileds introduced the LUXEON MX, a multi-die emitter that delivers industry leading efficiency and flux for outdoor fixtures and high bay lighting applications. Lighting fixtures benefit from the emitter’s 1,200 lumen, 150 lm/W efficacy, at 85°C* which enables a system efficiency of 120 lm/W when driven at 700 mA. “This is double the flux of comparable emitters in 120 lm/W systems. We’ve achieved this performance leap by optimizing the LED for improved efficiency at higher drive currents up to 1.5A with the 12V device,” explained Seth Danielson, product manager for the LUXEON MX.

Cree Reports Financial Results for the Second Quarter of Fiscal Year 2017

Cree, Inc., a market leader in LED lighting, today announced consolidated revenue of $347 million from continuing operations, and $54 million from discontinued operations, for a combined revenue of $401 million for its second quarter of fiscal 2017. This represents an 8% decrease compared to combined revenue of $436 million ($394 million from continuing operations and $42 million from discontinued operations) for the second quarter of fiscal 2016 and an 8% increase compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2017. Combined GAAP net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2017 was $6 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, compared to combined GAAP net income of $13 million, or $0.13 per diluted share, for the second quarter of fiscal 2016. On a non-GAAP basis, combined net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2017 was $30 million, or $0.30 per diluted share, compared to combined non-GAAP net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2016 of $28 million, or $0.28 per diluted share.
