Eaton Launches New LED Luminaire for Commercial and Industrial Illumination

Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of its Metalux™ SWLED Surface and Wall light-emitting diode (LED) luminaire, providing a versatile, high-performing and energy-efficient lighting solution for a broad range of commercial and industrial application needs. Featuring Eaton’s advanced LED technology, the luminaire is offered in multiple lumen packages, lensing and control options, making it an excellent replacement for general-purpose lighting applications of linear fluorescent products including low-bay industrials, wraparounds and striplights. The SWLED luminaire can provide energy savings of up to 50 percent when compared to traditional fluorescent alternative products.

Eaton's newly-released LED surface light is available in 18 lumen packages, raging from 800 lumens to 7,000 lumens. (Eaton/LEDinside)

“The SWLED sets itself apart from other lighting solutions with the ability to be mounted at different heights and positions without sacrificing performance and uniformity,” said Kraig Kasler, president, Eaton’s Lighting Division. “The flexibility and versatility of the luminaire with its multiple lensing, lumen packages, integrated senor and control options, allows one product to satisfy a wide variety of project needs.”

The Metalux SWLED Surface and Wall Luminaire offers three lensing options (Clear, Semi-Frost and Full-Frost), each providing distinct lighting distributions for specific application needs. In addition, a choice of three integrated sensor control options adds dimming, occupancy sensing and daylight harvesting capabilities. A handheld remote allows personal control and adds additional features including an energy-saving mode.

Offered in 18 lumen packages from nominal 800 lumens to up to 7,000 lumens, the high performance SWLED luminaire can provide up to 116 lumens per watt. The fixture is offered in 3500 Kelvin (K), 4000K and 5000K color temperatures with a typical 85 color rendering index. The LED luminaire is designed to last 60,000 hours at 70 percent lumen output.

An excellent solution for both new construction and retrofit projects, the fixture is available in 2-feet and 4-feet lengths and can be ceiling- or wall-mounted or suspended, providing an ideal solution for open area warehouses and aisles; stairwells, corridors and hallways; storage areas and as restroom vanity lighting, among others.

For additional control capabilities, the SWLED luminaire is equipped with a zero to 10 volt continuous dimming driver for easy and flexible integration with lighting control panels, occupancy sensors, daylighting and room controllers. The luminaire is also available with a native Fifth Light Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) driver option for complete digital energy management.
