Innovative products for tomorrow's clever towns and cities – as part of this year's Light + Building in Frankfurt, Osram Lighting Solutions will be showing innovative luminaires, intelligent light management systems and a wide range of services across six different sectors for tomorrow's intelligent cities. The spectrum ranges from 'smart-city-ready' outdoor luminaires with parking sensors to sensor and control kits for intelligent, efficient lighting solutions in industrial and office buildings. "Towns and cities in the future will become more intelligent thanks to luminaires and solutions from Osram," stated Eladia Pulido, CEO of the Lighting Solutions business division. The Osram stand at Light + Building is located, as in previous years, in the familiar ‘Festhalle’ building.

With the new radio-controlled Street Light Control system, outdoor luminaires such as the Streetlight 20 LED are made smart city-ready. Parking spaces can be detected thanks to parking sensors and the status forwarded to mobile end devices or navigation systems.

Roads and outdoor applications: The new Street Light Control generation

In the smart city sector Osram Lighting Solutions will be showing a new generation of the Street Light Control system (SLC RF) that connects luminaires in a network wirelessly via radio, based on the new, open IPv6 internet standard. An intelligent radio component in the outdoor luminaire and an integrated antenna make the luminaires 'smart-city-ready'. In a first step, the Streetlight 10, Streetlight 20 and DL 50 LED outdoor luminaires will be equipped with the new wireless system. Information is wirelessly transmitted from light head to light head and communicated with a router via internet to the central control point. The system's high flexibility enables it to intelligently search for another path if a unit fails, thus remaining fully functional, and this radio network has the ability to become the backbone for completely new smart city services as a comprehensive information network. Efficient parking space management becomes possible for example by integrating specific sensors.

Museum/shop: Omnipoint

Osram will be showing the flexible, award-winning Omnipoint luminaire as a series product at Light + Building. The luminaire was declared the most innovative product at Lightfair 2015 and is able to illuminate several areas in a single room, possible thanks to individual control of all 61 luminous diodes in the dome-shaped luminaire. Light direction, pattern and angle are controlled simply and flexibly with an app featuring an intuitive user interface. The app is used to program various light scenes which are then called using a tablet or smartphone. The luminaire is particularly suitable for rooms requiring high lighting flexibility such as conference rooms or fashion stores with alternating product displays. Up to eight luminaires can be commonly controlled via WIFI wirelessly with the DMX512 protocol, and the downlight will be initially available in 3,000 and 4,000 Kelvin versions.

Industry: Sensor and control kit

Osram will also show a sensor and control kit offering suitable sensors for various usage profiles, ranging from workshops and production bays to parking garages and logistics centres. The sensors feature high detection quality, can be simply planned and positioned and are either integrated into luminaires - such as the Siteco Compact Monsun - or integrated on mounting rails, as with the Modario trunking system. Customers can specify control options according to the application and requirements, with either radio-based solutions such as Lightify Pro or wired DALI-based light controls.

Office: Scriptus

The Scriptus office luminaire designed by the renowned Berlin design studio Aisslinger is being shown for the first time at Light + Building, featuring a modern, progressive design as well as outstanding efficiency and quality of light. The multi-level MLA (Multi-Lens Array) optical system ensures optimum glare elimination and high visual comfort. Scriptus comes as a surface-mounted or suspended version with various lengths and lumen levels to ideally illuminate differing office configurations. The luminaire is equipped as standard with a DALI control unit and on request with integrated daylight and motion sensors. A Lightify Pro version is also available for wireless, app-based light control. In addition to 3000K and 4000K light colours, a tunable white version will also be available for biologically effective light in office environments.

Sports and leisure: Floodlight 20 Maxi LED

Osram is expanding its LED floodlight range with a further large construction size in the form of the Floodlight 20 Maxi LED. As a result, the flexible floodlight series is now available in four sizes and with luminaire luminous flux levels from 3,000 to 100,000 lumens. The lens optic ensures precise light control, minimises glare and also achieves best results with quality of light and efficiency. The Maxi version with a connected load of 960 watts and 100,000 lumens is suitable for illuminating wide areas and designed for mounting heights from 14 metres upwards. Seven different light distribution patterns enable a diversity of applications, e.g. sports locations. The floodlight provides flicker-free lighting, enabling TV broadcasting in HDTV and super slow motion. The modular design of the floodlight range consists of a housing with electronic control unit, ESD-protected LED module and fixing element, enabling simple installation and maintenance and the upgrading of modules.
